Hi all, welcome back to the Bonji Foods newsletter! We wanted to celebrate a fun holiday on St. Patrick's Day with some classic and new Irish-inspired recipes!


Irish Inspired Recipes 1. Irish Soda Bread Although the Irish cherish this bread all year long, we bring a classic “grandma” style recipe to you today. At Bonji, we value the idea of family; thus, sharing this sacred family recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction is exactly what we were looking for. This no-yeast bread is simple, quick, and a delicious addition to your St. Patty's Day meal! Ingredients: 1 and 3/4 cups (420ml) buttermilk* 1 large egg (optional, see note) 4 and 1/4 cups (531g) all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled), plus more for your hands and counter 3 Tablespoons (38g) granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 5 Tablespoons (70g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed* optional: 1 cup (150g) raisins You can find full detailed instructions here:



2. Irish Colcannon Another classic Irish dish that has seen many American spin-offs over the years, but we wanted to stick to tradition as best as possible. This recipe does require a bit more work and ingredients than the soda bread, however, you can trust us, it's well worth every bit of effort. The more effort and love you pour into this one, the better it gets. 1 pound russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch chunks 1 pound red potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch chunks 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided 6 tablespoons unsalted butter 1 small head savoy cabbage (about 1 pound), cored and shredded 4 medium scallions, white and green parts thinly sliced and separated 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/2 cup whole milk 1/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth You can find full detailed instructions here:


3. Mint Matcha Smoothie (a.k.a. Healthy Shamrock Shake) Alright alright…. we know this isn't the most Irish recipe in the books, but we felt it was delicious enough to include. Definitely carrying a modern spin on smoothies in general, this recipe is a top tier green addition to your St. Patty's Day celebration. Not only is it super tasty and simple, but also it's ingredients are full of nutrition. Banana (for texture) Vanilla extract Mint leaves or extract Kale or spinach Plant-based milk (coconut or almond milk work) Matcha green tea powder All you truly need is a blender for this one, but the detailed instructions can be found here:
