Bonji Foods Aficionado Smart Brief: Volume 61
Hi all, welcome back to the Bonji Food Aficionado Smart Brief! Happy Tuesday and we hope you had an amazing weekend! It's officially March, the month that Spring officially kicks off! We couldn't be more pumped about the upcoming warm weather, and there are new trends hitting 2023 hard. Thus, today, we want to give you all some of the hot hitters as Spring rolls in.
Top Food Trends Heading into Spring 2023 1. Trending Flavors One of the first “new” flavors that have picked up steam this year is Ube. You may have heard the word in passing, maybe at a coffee shop, but Ube has started to skyrocket. The purple sweet potato-styled flavor comes from yams in the Philippines. It holds a slightly nutty flavor with a vanilla-esque scent. Another trending flavor revolves around a complex profile of spices that excite tastebuds. For instance, hot honey is simply everywhere. No matter if you are just checking out social media or watching the food network, everyone is talking about hot honey. We recently had it on a pizza, and yes it was delicious. 2. Impressive New Cuisines Although some of these cuisines may not be necessarily new, they are jumping into the mainstream luck no others. To start, Korean concepts are popping up everywhere. Whether this is the Korean BBQ we all know and love, Korean Fried Chicken, or some fusion style, it is bold and impressive. The wide variety of spices and flavors in Korean cuisine offers so much to consumers and they are loving it. Another trendy cuisine that has been captivating people's hearts is Turkish food. We recently went to a Turkish bakery + cafe, and it blew us away. Not only was the bread diverse and delicious, but the atmosphere was incredible. We highly suggest trying out some Turkish flavors, but in the meantime you can check out our review on Youtube! 3. Life of The Party Something that took me by surprise, but has gone viral, are butter boards. Yup, you read that right… butter boards. If you haven't seen or heard of this viral party food trend, butter boards are designed for that Super Bowl party or family gathering. Essentially, you have butter smeared on a charcuterie type board with various flavors sprinkled within. Then, you have crackers or pieces of dough ready to go for the party dippers. Now, this may not be the first thing I think of when hosting a party, but who knows, it could be delicious!
